Brand Introduction | Purity, Science and Trust
PURENESS LiNK recognizes the nutritional needs of every stage of life. Guided by our brand philosophy, “Nutrition Science Designed for Efficient Utilization,” we provide trusted nutritional options suitable for daily supplementation.
We believe that truly effective nutritional supplementation involves more than simply providing nutrients in specified amounts. It should also take into account pathophysiological mechanisms recognized in Western medicine, ingredient-specific evidence and scientific research, formulations incorporating functional food ingredients authorized by original manufacturers in Europe, the United States and Japan, and the actual user experience.
From ingredient selection to product manufacturing, PURENESS LiNK maintains a professional and meticulous approach, helping consumers of different ages and lifestyles find suitable ways to meet their daily nutritional needs.
Ingredient Technology | Italian ULTRACAL® SEA Sucrosomial® Calcium
This product features ULTRACAL® SEA, a marine-derived calcium ingredient developed by PharmaNutra in Italy. Its calcium is obtained from the naturally mineralized structure of the calcified red alga Lithothamnium calcareum and is supplied primarily in the form of calcium carbonate.
Each capsule provides:
- 180 mg of calcium from seaweed-derived calcium carbonate
- 12 mg of seaweed magnesium
- Seaweed-derived trace minerals
- Sunflower lecithin, sucrose esters of fatty acids and other formulation ingredients
- A vegan hydroxypropyl methylcellulose capsule
What Is Sucrosomial® Technology?
Sucrosomial® technology is a mineral-delivery and dispersion system based on a matrix of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids. In ULTRACAL® SEA, the marine-derived calcium ingredient is incorporated into this matrix.
The formulation is designed to:
- Support the uniform dispersion of the calcium ingredient
- Reduce direct contact between the mineral and the external environment
- Support passage of the formulation through the gastrointestinal environment
- Provide a mineral format suitable for vegetable capsules
- Offer a convenient option for daily calcium supplementation
Sucrosomial® technology is not identical to a conventional liposome consisting solely of a phospholipid bilayer. A technically precise description is “a phospholipid and sucrester-based Sucrosomial® delivery system.” The Chinese product name retains the term “liposomal calcium,” but the formulation should not be represented as completely bypassing normal calcium-absorption mechanisms or guaranteeing a particular absorption rate.
Seaweed Calcium | Source and Characteristics
Lithothamnium calcareum is a calcified red alga that accumulates calcium, magnesium and other minerals within its mineral structure. ULTRACAL® SEA uses marine-derived calcium carbonate obtained from this red alga. According to the ingredient manufacturer, the raw material contains more than 30% elemental calcium.
Calcium supplements should be evaluated according to their declared elemental calcium content rather than the total weight of the calcium carbonate or seaweed ingredient. Each capsule of this product provides 180 mg of elemental calcium.
Calcium carbonate must dissolve within the gastrointestinal tract before releasing absorbable calcium ions. Taking the product with or immediately after a meal is generally preferred because gastric acid assists the dissolution of calcium carbonate.
Calcium Absorption and Utilization | From the Gastrointestinal Tract to Bones and Cells
The overall pathway may be summarized as follows:
Vegetable-capsule disintegration → dispersion of the Sucrosomial® formulation → gradual dissolution of seaweed-derived calcium carbonate and release of Ca²⁺ → absorption in the small intestine → transcellular active absorption and paracellular passive absorption → entry into the circulation → distribution to bones, teeth, muscles, nerves and other tissues → excretion of unused calcium through the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.
In the duodenum and proximal small intestine, calcium can enter intestinal cells through channels including TRPV6. Calbindin and transport systems such as PMCA1b then participate in moving calcium across intestinal cells and into the circulation. Calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, regulates the expression of several proteins involved in this pathway.
The body tightly regulates blood calcium through parathyroid hormone, vitamin D, the kidneys, bones and calcium-sensing receptors. Calcium supplied by a supplement is therefore not absorbed in its entirety. Actual utilization is influenced by diet, vitamin D status, age, gastric acidity, intestinal function and the amount taken at one time.
Normal Physiological Functions of Calcium
Each capsule provides 180 mg of calcium as a supplementary source of dietary calcium. Under the applicable Taiwanese food-labelling and advertising regulations, calcium may be described as having the following normal physiological functions.
Bones and Teeth
Helps maintain the normal development and health of bones and teeth
Serves as an important mineral component of bones and teeth
Most of the body’s calcium is stored in bones and teeth, primarily as hydroxyapatite together with phosphate.
Muscles, Heart and Nerves
Contributes to normal muscle and cardiac contraction and normal nerve responsiveness
The regulated movement of calcium ions participates in the contraction of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscle and in the normal release of neurotransmitters from nerve cells.
Blood Clotting
Contributes to normal blood-clotting function
Participates in the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin during normal coagulation
Calcium is also known as coagulation factor IV and participates in the association of several clotting factors with phospholipid membranes.
Cellular Physiology
Participates in the regulation of cell permeability
Functions as an intracellular signal involved in normal enzyme activity, secretion and cellular responses
These statements describe the general nutritional and physiological functions of calcium. They do not indicate that this product can prevent or treat osteoporosis, fractures, hypocalcaemia, cardiac arrhythmias or any other disease.
Seaweed Magnesium and Trace Minerals
Each capsule also provides 12 mg of seaweed magnesium together with seaweed-derived trace minerals. Magnesium and calcium are both essential minerals; however, the magnesium content of this product is relatively low. It should be regarded as part of the seaweed-mineral profile rather than as a primary or high-potency magnesium supplement.
Suitable Users | Supplementing Dietary Calcium Intake
This product is suitable for:
- People who consume limited amounts of dairy products, soy foods, small fish or dark-green vegetables
- People with unbalanced diets or who frequently eat outside the home
- People with lactose intolerance or limited dairy intake
- Vegetarians and vegans
- People seeking to supplement their daily calcium intake
- Growing children or adolescents who have been professionally assessed as requiring calcium supplementation
- Middle-aged or older adults with insufficient dietary calcium intake
- Postmenopausal women who have been assessed as suitable for calcium supplementation
- People concerned about maintaining the normal health of their bones and teeth
- People who prefer marine-derived seaweed calcium
- People seeking a Sucrosomial® mineral-delivery formulation
- People who prefer vegan vegetable capsules
Before using a calcium supplement, estimate the calcium supplied by milk, yoghurt, cheese, tofu, dried bean products, small fish, sesame, dark-green vegetables and calcium-fortified foods. Supplements should primarily be used to make up the remaining dietary shortfall.
