Brand Introduction | Purity, Science and Trust

PURENESS LiNK recognizes the nutritional needs of every stage of life. Guided by our brand philosophy, “Nutrition Science Designed for Efficient Utilization,” we provide trusted nutritional options suitable for daily supplementation.

We believe that truly effective nutritional supplementation involves more than simply providing nutrients in specified amounts. It should also take into account pathophysiological mechanisms recognized in Western medicine, ingredient-specific evidence and scientific research, formulations incorporating functional food ingredients authorized by original manufacturers in Europe, the United States and Japan, and the actual user experience. From ingredient selection to product manufacturing, PURENESS LiNK maintains a professional and meticulous approach, helping consumers of different ages and lifestyles find suitable ways to meet their daily nutritional needs.

 Ingredient Technology | GREENSELECT® and Indena Phytosome®

This product features GREENSELECT® green tea leaf extract formulated with Indena Phytosome® technology. Sunflower lecithin is used as the plant-based source of phospholipids.

Each capsule provides:

  • 50 mg of catechin polyphenols
  • 75 mg of epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG)
  • 380 mg of plant-based lecithin
  • Decaffeinated green tea leaf extract
  • An acid-resistant vegan capsule

GREENSELECT® is double standardized for polyphenols and EGCG. Its raw-material specification limits caffeine to no more than 0.1%, providing an alternative source of green tea phytonutrients for people who prefer to avoid caffeine.

What Are Catechin Polyphenols and EGCG?

The principal catechins found in green tea include EGCG, EGC, ECG and EC. These compounds are naturally occurring plant polyphenols. EGCG stands for epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate and is one of the most extensively studied catechins in green tea.

Catechin polyphenols and EGCG are not vitamins or minerals, and no recommended daily intake has been established for them. Green tea extracts can differ substantially in their amounts of EGCG, total polyphenols, caffeine and other catechins. Products should therefore be compared using their stated amounts per serving rather than the total weight of “green tea extract” alone.

What Is Indena Phytosome® Technology?

Phytosome® is a formulation technology that forms a complex between selected constituents of a botanical extract and naturally derived phospholipids. Phospholipids contain both water-compatible and lipid-compatible regions, allowing plant polyphenols to interact with a phospholipid matrix and helping improve their dispersion and stability within the formulation.

The formulation is designed to:

  • Form a complex between green tea phytonutrients and natural phospholipids
  • Help disperse catechin polyphenols evenly throughout the formulation
  • Reduce direct exposure of the ingredients to the external environment
  • Help maintain the uniformity and stability of the formulation
  • Support passage through the gastrointestinal environment and subsequent absorption
  • Provide a plant-based phospholipid formulation suitable for people following a vegan diet

Technically, Phytosome® is more accurately described as a botanical extract-phospholipid complex. It is not identical to a conventional liposome, in which an ingredient is primarily encapsulated within a phospholipid vesicle.

Phytosome® is a botanical-ingredient formulation and delivery technology. It does not guarantee a particular absorption rate, physiological outcome or therapeutic effect and is not a substitute for a balanced diet.

Absorption and Metabolism of EGCG | More Than the Amount Consumed

The absorption of intact EGCG following oral consumption is limited. Its overall metabolic pathway may be summarized as follows:

  • Consumption and release from the dosage form → passage through the stomach and small intestine → limited intestinal absorption → methylation, sulfation and other conjugation reactions in intestinal and liver cells → systemic circulation → elimination through bile, urine or faeces.
  • Catechins that are not absorbed in the small intestine may enter the large intestine, where gut microorganisms convert them into phenyl-γ-valerolactones and smaller phenolic acids. Some of these metabolites may subsequently be absorbed, processed by the liver and excreted in urine.
  • The body’s response to EGCG therefore involves more than intact EGCG alone. It may also involve conjugated metabolites formed in the intestinal wall and liver, as well as downstream metabolites produced by the gut microbiota.
  • Food intake, the amount consumed at one time, formulation technology, gut microbiota, liver metabolism and individual physiological differences may all influence internal exposure to EGCG.

Scientific Background of Catechin Polyphenols | Redox and Metabolic Signalling

The following information describes the biochemical background of catechin polyphenols in humans and research models. It does not indicate that this product can diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease, promote weight loss or provide any specific clinical outcome.

1. Oxidation-Reduction Reactions

EGCG contains several phenolic hydroxyl groups and can participate in oxidation-reduction reactions. At low to moderate exposure levels, research suggests that it may interact with adaptive cellular redox responses.

Its activity is dependent on dose and environmental conditions. At excessive concentrations or under conditions favouring oxidation, EGCG may also generate reactive oxidation products, consume glutathione and increase stress on liver cells. It should therefore not be assumed that a higher intake will necessarily provide a greater benefit.

2. Cellular Defence Signalling

Cell and animal studies indicate that EGCG may interact with Nrf2, NF-κB and related redox-enzyme systems. These findings help explain possible biochemical mechanisms. However, concentrations used in experimental models are often higher than those achieved in human blood following ordinary oral consumption and should not be interpreted as proof of a specific effect from an oral supplement.

3. Energy-Metabolism Research

EGCG has been studied for its potential interactions with AMPK, fatty-acid oxidation and energy-metabolism signalling. Human studies of body weight and metabolic outcomes have produced inconsistent findings and are influenced by diet, exercise, caffeine, dose and study design.

This product is not a weight-loss medication and is not a substitute for dietary management, regular physical activity or medical treatment.

4. Metabolism by the Gut Microbiota

Most catechins that are not absorbed in the small intestine enter the large intestine, where they may be converted by gut microorganisms into smaller phenolic metabolites. Because the composition and metabolic capacity of the gut microbiota vary between individuals, people consuming the same amount may still produce different metabolites and experience different levels of internal exposure.

  6. Discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately if dark urine, jaundice, persistent nausea, loss of appetite, right-upper-abdominal discomfort or unusual fatigue occurs.
  7. Green tea polyphenols may affect the absorption of non-haem iron. People with iron deficiency, low ferritin, anaemia or those taking iron supplements should separate this product from iron supplements and iron-rich meals by several hours and follow the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
  8. Green tea constituents may interact with certain medicines. People taking nadolol, anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicines or other prescription drugs should consult a physician or pharmacist before use.
  9. People scheduled for surgery should inform their healthcare team of all nutritional supplements currently being taken.
