Brand Introduction | Purity, Science and Trust
PURENESS LiNK recognizes the nutritional needs of every stage of life. Guided by our brand philosophy, “Nutrition Science Designed for Efficient Utilization,” we provide trusted nutritional options suitable for daily supplementation.
We believe that truly effective nutritional supplementation involves more than simply providing nutrients in specified amounts. It should also take into account pathophysiological mechanisms recognized in Western medicine, ingredient-specific evidence and scientific research, formulations incorporating functional food ingredients authorized by original manufacturers in Europe, the United States and Japan, and the actual user experience. From ingredient selection to product manufacturing, PURENESS LiNK maintains a professional and meticulous approach, helping consumers of different ages and lifestyles find suitable ways to meet their daily nutritional needs.
Ingredient Technology | Italian ULTRASEL® Sucrosomial® Selenium
This product features ULTRASEL® Sucrosomial® Selenium from PharmaNutra in Italy. The ingredient uses sodium selenite as an inorganic selenium source, standardized to contain 0.3% elemental selenium and incorporated into a Sucrosome® matrix composed of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids.
According to the Chinese-language product label, each capsule provides:
- 200 mcg of elemental selenium from sodium selenite
- 45 mg of plant-based lecithin
- 350 mg of capsule contents ± 5%
Sucrose esters of fatty acids, maltodextrin, pregelatinized rice starch, calcium phosphate, rice flour and other formulation ingredients
An acid-resistant hydroxypropyl methylcellulose vegetable capsule
What Is Sucrosomial® Technology?
Sucrosomial® technology is a nutrient-encapsulation, dispersion and delivery system based on a matrix of sucrose esters of fatty acids and phospholipids. In ULTRASEL®, sodium selenite is incorporated into this matrix.
The formulation is designed to:
- Support the uniform dispersion of the selenium ingredient
- Reduce direct contact between the mineral and the external environment
- Help the formulation pass through the gastric environment and reach the small intestine
- Support ingredient stability and gastrointestinal tolerability
- Provide a format suitable for capsules, tablets and other nutritional formulations
Sucrosomial® technology is not identical to a conventional liposome consisting only of a phospholipid bilayer. A technically precise description is “a Sucrosomial® phospholipid and sucrose-ester delivery system.” The established Chinese product name retains the term “liposomal selenium,” but the formulation should not be represented as completely bypassing normal physiological absorption, guaranteeing a particular absorption rate or replacing a balanced diet.
Selenium Absorption and Metabolism | From the Small Intestine to Selenoprotein Synthesis
The overall pathway may be summarized as follows:
Vegetable-capsule disintegration → dispersion of the Sucrosomial® formulation in the gastrointestinal tract → release of sodium selenite → absorption in the small intestine → transport through the portal circulation to the liver → reduction to hydrogen selenide or an equivalent common selenium pool → formation of selenophosphate and the specialized selenocysteine transfer RNA → synthesis of selenocysteine-containing selenoproteins → distribution to tissues through systems including selenoprotein P → methylation and primarily urinary excretion of excess selenium.
The body can absorb up to approximately 90% of selenium from common supplemental forms such as selenite, selenate, selenomethionine and selenium-enriched yeast. However, a high absorption percentage does not mean that all absorbed selenium becomes a functional selenoprotein or that a higher intake is necessarily better.
Twenty-five human selenoproteins have been identified. Selenium does not primarily function as free selenium that directly scavenges free radicals. Instead, it is converted to selenocysteine and incorporated into specific selenoproteins.
Normal Physiological Function of Selenium | Antioxidant Support and Resistance to Oxidative Stress
The Glutathione Peroxidase System
Selenium-containing enzymes such as GPX1, GPX2 and GPX3 use glutathione in reactions that reduce hydrogen peroxide and organic peroxides. GPX4 participates in the reduction of phospholipid hydroperoxides and helps maintain the normal redox balance of membrane lipids.
The Thioredoxin Reductase System
TXNRD1, TXNRD2 and TXNRD3 are selenium-containing oxidoreductases that use NADPH to maintain the thioredoxin system in a reduced state. This system participates in protein repair, DNA synthesis, mitochondrial function and cellular redox signaling.
Academic Background on Other Selenoproteins
The deiodinases DIO1, DIO2 and DIO3 participate in the activation and inactivation of the thyroid hormones T4 and T3. Other selenoproteins are involved in selenium transport, endoplasmic-reticulum protein quality control, calcium signaling, and normal muscular and neurological processes.
This information describes the biochemical and nutritional roles of selenoproteins. It does not indicate that this product can treat thyroid disease, enhance immunity, improve male fertility or promote hair or nail growth. These statements are not currently suitable as general food-function claims for selenium products in Taiwan.
Dose Positioning | 200 mcg per Capsule
Taiwan’s Daily Reference Value for selenium for the general population is 55 mcg. The 200 mcg supplied by one capsule is approximately 363.6% of that reference value and may be rounded to 364% or stated as 363.6% in accordance with the applicable labeling rules.
The adult Tolerable Upper Intake Level for selenium is 400 mcg per day in Taiwan and the United States. In 2023, the European Food Safety Authority established a more conservative adult upper level of 255 mcg per day. An upper level is a safety boundary for long-term total intake, not a daily supplementation target.
This product should therefore be regarded as a relatively high-potency, single-nutrient selenium supplement. Total daily exposure should include selenium from food, Brazil nuts, multivitamins, mineral formulas and other selenium-containing products. It should not be combined indiscriminately with several additional selenium supplements.
Suitable Users | Adults with an Assessed Need for Selenium Supplementation
This product may be suitable for:
- Adults whose diets are limited in variety or contain few selenium-rich foods
- People who consume limited amounts of seafood, meat, eggs, dairy products or whole grains
- People following plant-based diets who wish to pay closer attention to selenium intake
- People seeking a nutrient with a recognized antioxidant physiological function
- People advised by a physician, pharmacist or registered dietitian to supplement selenium
- People who prefer plant-based lecithin and vegan vegetable capsules
Because each capsule provides 200 mcg of selenium, this product should not be treated as a low-dose general multinutrient that every population group requires routinely. Children, adolescents, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people with medical conditions should have their total intake and need for supplementation assessed by a qualified healthcare professional.
